The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda is investigating social media claims alleging the discovery of human remains underwater, approximately three nautical miles east of Parham Dock.
The Police Administration has assured the public that the matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness and that a full investigation is actively ongoing.
On Saturday, July 18, police and the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) Coast Guard conducted joint investigations in the area identified. However, authorities have not yet been able to establish the precise location where the alleged discovery was made.
Police and the ABDF Coast Guard continue to work closely together to verify the information received and accurately identify the reported location. An operation of this nature requires precise and reliable information to effectively coordinate a comprehensive underwater search and ensure that all available resources are deployed efficiently.
Authorities are appealing to anyone with useful information that could assist investigators and the ABDF Coast Guard in pinpointing the exact location of the alleged discovery to come forward.
The Police Administration has also acknowledged the sensitive nature of these claims, particularly given the number of persons reported missing over a period of time and the many families still awaiting answers regarding the disappearance of their loved ones.
Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers reaffirmed his commitment, and that of the Royal Police Force, to pursue every credible lead and every piece of information that may help bring closure to these ongoing investigations.
The Police Administration thanked the public for its cooperation and patience, and assured the nation that updates will be provided as soon as verified information becomes available.
