Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle has confirmed that Adrian Williams will represent the United Progressive Party (UPP) in the St. John's City South constituency in the upcoming general election. According to Antigua News Room, the announcement followed a meeting of the party's Central Executive Committee held on April 1.
Pringle stated that Williams' membership in the St. George branch had been formally ratified, clearing the path for his candidacy. He also confirmed that he exercised his constitutional authority to waive the required waiting period, enabling Williams to contest the seat.
Pringle further announced that the UPP's full slate of candidates will be presented to the General Council for ratification on April 7. That step will formally complete the party's candidate selection process ahead of the polls.
The opposition leader thanked party branches and candidates for completing the internal procedures leading up to the final approval stage, as the UPP continues its preparations for the election campaign.
