Prime Minister Gaston Browne has formally notified key international organisations of the dissolution of Parliament and signalled that a general election date is imminent. According to Antigua.news, Browne communicated the development on April 5, 2026, informing the organisations that Parliament was dissolved on April 1, 2026, and that an official election date would be announced on April 7, 2026.

In his outreach, the Prime Minister extended invitations to the Organization of American States to deploy an Electoral Observation Mission, as well as to the Commonwealth and CARICOM to each send Observer Groups to monitor the upcoming vote. Browne assured all invited bodies that customary facilities and courtesies would be extended to their respective missions.
