The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) has announced special identification card arrangements for electors requiring replacement documents ahead of General Elections 2026. According to Antigua.news, specific procedures are in place both before and on Election Day to ensure eligible voters are not disenfranchised.
Voters whose Voter's ID cards have expired may apply for a Special Identification Card on Thursday, April 30, at Registration Units within their respective constituencies. Those units will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on polling day to accommodate applicants. Electors applying through this process must present a valid government-issued identification and a passport-sized photograph.
Electors whose valid Voter's ID cards have been lost or stolen face a different procedure. They must visit ABEC's headquarters at the David Shoul Building on Queen Elizabeth Highway — formerly the U.S. Embassy and now home to the Passport Office — where the relevant office is located on the second floor. As with expired card applicants, those seeking replacements due to loss or theft must also provide a valid government-issued ID and a passport-sized photograph.
ABEC has further advised that all Special Identification Cards issued for Election Day will be collected at polling stations following their use.
