Police have launched an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl in the Pointe area, according to Antigua.news.

The child's mother brought her daughter to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), where she reported that the girl had allegedly been sexually assaulted by a known male. The incident reportedly took place shortly after midnight on May 4.

Detectives subsequently interviewed the child in the presence of her mother as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities later transported the girl to the Support and Referral Centre (SARC), where a district doctor conducted a medical examination.

Police have confirmed that investigations remain ongoing as authorities continue their inquiries into the matter.
