Prime Minister Gaston Browne has advised Governor General Sir Rodney Williams to appoint Tiffany Anthea Lauren Strann-Peters to the Senate, while Senator Joel Anderson Rayne has been elevated to the post of Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Corporate Governance and Public Private Partnerships.

Both appointments take effect from 14 May 2026. An official letter signed by Prime Minister Browne and issued by the Office of the Prime Minister on 13 May sets out the constitutional basis for each appointment — Strann-Peters' Senate appointment under Section 28 of the Constitution, and Rayne's elevation to Parliamentary Secretary under Section 75.

Rayne's promotion comes just one week after he was sworn in as a Senator, marking a notably swift advancement through government ranks.

A swearing-in ceremony for both officials is scheduled to take place at Government House at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
