The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has approved the acquisition of additional specialised equipment and the engagement of new technical experts to accelerate the country's national road rehabilitation programme.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Works presented Cabinet with a comprehensive update on Wednesday, including the Minister of State, the Permanent Secretary, the Director of Works and the Deputy Director of Works. The delegation briefed Cabinet on progress along the All Saints Road project and roadworks currently under way in communities across both islands.

Ministry leadership confirmed that road infrastructure work will continue at its current pace, with increased attention now being directed toward rural communities. The Ministry remains committed to expanding and accelerating rehabilitation efforts to deliver safer, more reliable and more durable roads for residents and motorists nationwide.

Cabinet approved the purchase of two specialised pieces of equipment designed for use in areas where road networks are narrower than standard dimensions. The machinery is expected to significantly improve the Ministry's capacity to undertake paving and rehabilitation works on smaller roads and in difficult-to-access community areas.

Additional technical experts were also approved to support the Ministry of Works' ongoing operations. The new personnel are expected to strengthen project execution, improve efficiency and raise the overall quality of infrastructure development across the country.

Cabinet took the opportunity to commend the Ministry's leadership and staff for what ministers described as excellent work being carried out throughout Antigua and Barbuda. Ministers praised the team's dedication, professionalism and commitment to advancing the Government's infrastructure agenda.

The Government reaffirmed its commitment to sustained investment in road infrastructure as part of a broader national development strategy aimed at improving connectivity, enhancing public safety and supporting economic growth.
