The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) is working to determine the full extent of damage caused by a powerful earthquake that struck Antigua and Barbuda on Saturday morning, according to Antigua Observer.

The UWI Seismic Research Centre, which monitors seismic activity across the Eastern Caribbean, initially recorded the quake at a magnitude of 6.5 before revising its assessment downward to 6.4.

NODS officials are currently conducting damage assessments across the affected areas as the twin-island nation responds to one of the more significant seismic events to impact the region in recent memory.
