Antigua and Barbuda is making meaningful strides in its readiness for potential tsunami events, the Director of the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services (ABMS) has said. According to Antigua Observer, the remarks came in the wake of last week's 6.5 magnitude earthquake in the region.
ABMS Director Dale Destin, who recently authored an article on the subject of tsunamis, addressed the nation's preparedness during an interview with Observer Media. "We are getting prepared; we're…" he said, signalling a positive trajectory in the country's disaster readiness efforts.
Destin's comments reflect a growing focus on equipping Antigua and Barbuda to respond effectively to tsunami threats, a concern that has been brought into sharper focus following the recent seismic activity.
