Family members, friends, classmates and community residents gathered Thursday afternoon to celebrate the life of 18-year-old Brianna Clarke, as funeral services were held at Beacon Light Nazarene Church.
According to Antigua.news, Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who also serves as Member of Parliament for the area, was among the mourners who filled the church to pay their final respects to the young woman whose death shook the nation.
The emotional service comes nearly two months after Clarke was gunned down alongside 17-year-old Omari Lewis in a shooting on Hann Street in Villa that sent shockwaves across Antigua and Barbuda.
Mourners dressed in coordinated colours packed the church as tributes, prayers and songs were offered in memory of the young culinary student, whom loved ones have repeatedly described as quiet, kind-hearted and deeply family-oriented.
Clarke's death sparked a widespread outpouring of grief, with hundreds attending a candlelight vigil in April where family members shared memories of her dreams of becoming a private chef and entrepreneur. Her grandmother, Blondelle Hopkins, described her as "the calming force" within the family, while relatives affectionately called her "BriBri."
The service drew strong support from residents of Point and Villa, as well as former classmates, teachers and community members, many of whom have continued to call for justice in the case.
Police investigations into the March 26 double homicide remain ongoing. Two suspects, aged 19 and 24, were previously taken into custody in connection with the investigation.
