The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has approved an Official Funeral for the late Sir Aziz Hadeed, declaring his passing a profound national loss. According to Antigua.news, the announcement followed Wednesday's Cabinet meeting, at which government officials issued an extensive tribute honouring the life and legacy of one of the nation's most celebrated figures.

Cabinet described Sir Aziz as a visionary businessman, philanthropist, educator, and patriot whose contributions fundamentally transformed Antigua and Barbuda. Officials highlighted his role as Chairman of the Hadeed Group of Companies, widely regarded as one of the Caribbean's most influential business enterprises.

Beyond his commercial achievements, Sir Aziz served as both a Senator and Cabinet Minister, contributing directly to the governance of the nation. Government also praised his leadership on the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus Council, crediting him with playing a critical role in the institution's development and expansion.

Cabinet further recognised Sir Aziz's extensive record of charitable service. His philanthropic efforts included providing scholarships for students, extending support to vulnerable families during the COVID-19 pandemic, and making wide-ranging contributions to healthcare, youth development, sports, culture, and the arts.

In approving the Official Funeral, Cabinet stated that the honour reflects the nation's gratitude for a life defined by generosity, leadership, and service to humanity.
