Trial proceedings have commenced in the High Court for Jahciba Shoy, who faces charges in connection with the 2023 fatal shooting of Syrian businessman Roudi Shmaly. According to Antigua News Room, Shoy has been charged with murder and aggravated robbery.

The charges stem from an incident at Pick 'n Mix Mart on Desouza Road, where Shmaly was fatally shot in May of that year. Shoy has remained in custody since his arrest following the incident and is represented in court by attorney Wendel Alexander.

The court is expected to hear evidence and testimony from witnesses over the coming days as the trial progresses.
