The National Youth Parliament Association of Antigua and Barbuda (NYPAAB) has officially elected a new Executive Committee and a slate of Youth Members of Parliament to serve during the upcoming term, according to Antigua.news.
At a by-election held last night, the general body elected Rainer Santos Mercado as Vice-President, Romario Hughes as General Secretary, Esther McKenzie as External Affairs Officer, and Lutrell John as Public Relations Officer.
Those positions join a leadership team that was partially established at the association's Annual General Meeting on April 30, which saw Ezekiel Francois elected President, Janiyah Winston as Financial Secretary, Jordyn Roberts as Recruitment and Mobilization Officer, and Lorianna Richards as Projects and Events Manager. Former President Jessica Zouetr will remain connected to the body in the role of Immediate-Past President.
The association also elected a new cohort of Youth Members of Parliament to represent constituencies across Antigua and Barbuda. Johanna Jacobs will represent St. Mary's North, Cyniya Ireland will represent All Saints West, Celine Edwards will represent All Saints East and St. Lukes, Jawan Jackson will represent St. Philip's North, Chrysean Jarvis will represent St. Johns Rural South, Alton Alcendor will represent St. Johns Rural West, Daniel Taylor will represent St. Paul, and Leanna Browne will represent St. John's City South. The association noted that youth caretakers for the remaining constituencies will be appointed at a later date.
President Francois said the newly elected team reflects the talent, diversity, and commitment of Antigua and Barbuda's youth. He expressed confidence that both the Executive Committee and Youth Parliamentarians will work collaboratively to strengthen the association and expand opportunities for meaningful youth participation in national development.
NYPAAB said it looks forward to a productive term centred on leadership development, civic engagement, policy discussion, and empowering the next generation of national leaders.
