A man died Tuesday afternoon following a medical emergency at V.C. Bird International Airport, shortly after arriving on a regional flight from St. Lucia, according to Antigua.news.
The passenger had just disembarked LIAT Flight 5L301 from Castries when he collapsed inside the airport terminal at approximately 1 p.m.
Airport emergency personnel responded immediately. Firefighters from the Coolidge Fire Station administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in an effort to revive the man.
Emergency Medical Services subsequently arrived and transported him to hospital for further treatment. Despite the efforts of first responders and medical staff, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Authorities have not yet released the man's identity, age, or nationality.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Police investigations are ongoing.
