The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has launched an active search operation at Pigeon Point Beach after a man went missing while swimming in the area on Wednesday.
Preliminary investigations indicate the individual, believed to be a resident of the Swetes community, entered the water earlier in the day. He was subsequently observed signaling for help, appearing to be in distress, before submerging beneath the surface. He has not been seen since.
A coordinated multi-agency response is now underway. Divers from the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard, the Antigua and Barbuda Search and Rescue (ABSAR) team, and personnel from a private diving company are all conducting extensive searches of the surrounding waters.
The police are continuing to monitor the situation and have indicated that updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Members of the public are asked to avoid the immediate search area and to cooperate fully with emergency personnel on the scene.
