A 24-year-old man being held on remand at His Majesty's Prison has been hospitalised following an attempted suicide, according to Antigua.news.
Jermaine Nicholas, of All Saints, was rushed to hospital after the incident, which prompted an immediate response from prison officers. He is currently receiving medical care, though authorities have not released further details regarding his condition.
Nicholas is on remand in connection with the fatal stabbing of 29-year-old Jahmarley Pierre. Pierre died on the afternoon of March 25 after being stabbed during a confrontation near the All Saints traffic lights.
Emergency responders transported Pierre to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he was later pronounced dead.
Following the stabbing, Nicholas was charged and remanded to His Majesty's Prison as legal proceedings continue.
