A trial date has been confirmed for a man accused of causing a deadly traffic collision on Friars Hill Road in 2022, according to Antigua Observer.

Karim Edwards was originally scheduled to stand trial on Monday, but proceedings were postponed due to a separate ongoing matter before the court. His trial is now set to begin on October 12.

Edwards faces charges of causing death by reckless driving and reckless driving, stemming from a crash on October 23, 2022. He pleaded not guilty to both charges in February.

The collision claimed the life of medical student Kenneth Mathew, who died from severe brain injuries more than a week after the accident. A second victim, Priyanjana Das, survived but suffered life-altering consequences, including the amputation of her right arm, multiple fractures to her left arm, and injuries to her pelvis.

Edwards is represented by attorney Wendel Alexander.
