Minister of Sports and Creative Industries Dwayne George delivered an encouraging send-off to Team Antigua and Barbuda on Wednesday as the national delegation departed for the NACAC Under-18 and Under-23 Athletics Championships in Apizaco, Mexico.

According to Antigua News Room, the minister addressed the athletes at V.C. Bird International Airport before their departure, urging them to compete with pride and to represent their families, coaches and country on the regional stage.

"We're going out to win, but win, lose or draw, we still love you and we're still here to support you wholeheartedly," George told the team.

The championships are scheduled to run from July 10 to 12, with Antigua and Barbuda fielding competitors in both the Under-18 and Under-23 categories. The national contingent will face athletes from across North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

George called on the athletes to perform to the best of their abilities while carrying the national flag, and asked them to recognise the sacrifices made by those who helped prepare them for international competition.

"You are doing a good work for Antigua and Barbuda. We love you and we cheer you," the minister added.
