ABS Television and Radio will not broadcast Antigua Carnival 2026 events live, after receiving a directive imposing a mandatory 24-hour delay on all rebroadcasts of Carnival shows, according to Antigua News Room.
The state broadcaster issued a programming notice on Tuesday, acknowledging the order while indicating it had no authority over the decision.
"ABS has received an order – 'Mandatory 24-Hour Delay Rebroadcasting of Antigua Carnival 2026 Shows.' This is outside our control and we regret any inconvenience which this may cause," the notice read.
As reported by Antigua News Room, ABS did not name the party that issued the directive, nor did it offer any explanation for the delay requirement. As a result, all Carnival events previously scheduled for live broadcast on ABS will instead air 24 hours after they take place.
The announcement is likely to disappoint viewers who rely on the state broadcaster as their primary source of Carnival coverage. No further details regarding the scope or duration of the directive have been made public.
